A few free icon sources
For customizing/design work:
- Samantha Conner's deviantArt. Her Tiny White icon pack is free on the Play Store, but it isn't available in a .zip package for convenience yet.
- blackbearblanc's xda thread. His SmallWhites pack and others are freely distributed in .zip packages. However, they are quite few in number.
- icoMoon.io These icons are not directly Android-related. If you need general-purpose icons that look nice, try here. Additionally, there are other packages available there as well. Choose the packs you like from the Library, then view the icons and select to download the ones suitable to your needs. Screenshot demonstrating the latter:
