Once you're done with this, you're half way done.

Full guide:
1. Download the software to write the ISO onto USB: http://images2.store.microsoft.com/prod/clustera/framework/w7udt/1.0/en-us/Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe
Notice that the link comes directly from Microsoft. It's safe.

2. Install it:

3. then run it (you can Hit the windows key and search for "windows 7 ..." and it'll be the first results).
Click yes to give it administrative rights.

4. First, choose the Windows file you downloaded, like this:

5. Finally, choose your USB drive, then begin copying

Edit: Here's what's inside my en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso file. Even if yours says it's a .rar, if the name and content are the same, it's the same file.

You don't want the inside stuff, just the package. Give it to the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool and it'll do its job. If this doesn't work, I have a few ideas:
1) uninstall whatever Winrar stuff you have on the computer.
2) rename the file into .iso

but it's probably better to let me remote in and try stuff at this point. Let's hope it works. Update me whenever you try, I'll be available.
